EDDIE A NEFF
EDDIE A NEFF
Eddie A Neff passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014. He valiantly fought cancer for ten years, experiencing tender mercies, miracles and blessings. Born March 8, 1947, to Alden and Betty Heelis Neff, Ed lived his entire life in Santaquin, Utah. He graduated from Payson High where he was recognized multiple years as a four-letter athlete, and was selected All State in basketball by The Deseret News.
Eddie married Lynette Hudson August 13, 1971, in the Manti Temple. They lived in Santaquin where they raised their two boys, Blakely and Kolbey. Ed retired from the FM group of the LDS church.
Ed loved sports. He played on the first Santaquin Little League baseball team and then on the Blue Sox, coached by his Dad. It was the start of a long history of baseball, highlighted by playing in the American Legion All-Star game at Derk’s Field. His love turned to playing softball (Super Quik), and watching nephews, nieces, and “adopted” granddaughters play the sport he loved.
Serving as Bishop of the Santaquin 3rd Ward was a life-changing experience where he served unconditionally. The children and youth loved their Bishop and he loved them. Bishop always had time to visit and listen. He loved to talk about his mission in the North Central States. Bishop always found time to talk with everyone.
Ed loved going to Disneyland, watching and praying for the Cubs, and yelling at and for the Cougars. After tending to his garden, Ed found time to camp, fish, and ride 4-wheelers. The Alexander and Simons families brought a special happiness to him in his latter years.
Thank you, Ed, for letting us, your family, friends, and ward members take this journey with you. Your influence in the lives of others will be evident through generations to come.
He is survived by Lynette, Blakely and Kolbey; his sisters, Patricia Neff and Kathy (Wayne) Larsen; Aunt June Heelis; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Santaquin Utah Stake Center, 45 S. 500 W. The viewing will be Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 6-8:00 p.m. at the church, and Monday morning 9:45-10:45. Interment will be at the Santaquin Cemetery.
